A short journey up the coast will offer the exciting experiences such as – African wildlife at local private and public game parks. Diving or Fishing the waters filled with an abundance of tropical fish & aquatic delights. South Africa’s very first UNESCO World Heritage Site 3rd largest protected area in South Africa – Isimangaliso Wetland Park in St Lucia with some of the amazing sightings to find, over 6500 plant and animal species including 521 bird species. Being the largest estuarine system in Africa boasting the 2nd highest vegetated sand dunes.
In addition, Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park is a two hour drive from the cottage. The Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park offers the Big 5 and has accommodation for all budgets. Clark Bay Cottage is a great stop when travelling to or from the Reserves. A number of smaller reserves are also available within less than an hour’s drive from Clark Bay Cottage.
Delve into some Zulu culture at Shakaland, visiting a Zulu kraal (traditional homes) and explore the day activities of the village people, discovering the artistry skills of building their huts, brewing beer, making pottery and crafting baskets and beadwork and learning about the cuisine, and local tribal dancing, with perhaps a visit to a local witchdoctor (iSangoma)
